Mission Statement

The PRA is committed to supporting it’s members to develop all aspects of their activities by offering information, services and advice which ensures that the independent fuel retailing sector can continue to grow and be competitive in an ever more challenging business environment. This also requires the PRA to challenge and work with all appropriate Government departments to ensure that the sustainability of independent forecourt retailers is properly considered.

What do we do?

We represent independent fuel retailers who now account for 70% of all UK forecourts and provide a voice for all retailers both large and small. We have over 1,000 fee paying members including 45 out of the “Top 50 Indies” and 50% of all independent sites are members.

What we do for you

The key objectives of the PRA are to ensure that membership provides real, quantifiable value that outweighs the annual subscription fee, and that the benefits we offer are of interest across the spectrum of our membership.

We also represent the major operators and equipment manufactures of car wash equipment and have now absorbed members of the Car Wash Association into PRA membership.
The benefits of membership are set out below but please bear in mind that we are always seeking to add additional ones so keep a look out for new opportunities.

We provide evaluation and advice on:
  • Guidance on key relationship interaction (e.g. Trading Standards), equipment replacement and maintenance
  • Health and Safety regulations, crime and business protection
  • Expert opinion on the full range of issues that impact the fuel retailing industry today

We represent members’ interests to oil companies, Government, forecourt customers, the general public, and the media through representation and high profile campaigning on an ever-changing range of subjects.
We also work closely with HSE on risk assessment and controls and with other Government bodies where legislation impacts on fuel retailing.
Membership provides a range of benefits to reduce the cost of site operation and improve profitability including but not limited to banking/cash collection, wet stock management, business insurance, ATMs, and card processing.

With our “BigOil powered by Vianet” website we provide market intelligence and fuel management information.
